Three extends FREE 4G promotion for all customers until July 2016
4G will also be available for the first time to over 1.5 million former O2 customers* for free
Thursday 11th June 2015: Three Ireland today announced that it will extend its free 4G access promotion to all customers, including former O2 customers, who up to now have not had 4G access.
The promotion will mean that 1.5m former O2 customers* can get access to 4G from 1st July, for the first time and it’s free. The extension will also benefit Three’s original base of 500,000 as the advertised 4G fee of €4.99 per month will be waived for the next twelve months.
Three first launched 4G in January 2014 and, following the acquisition of O2, is rolling out 4G to former O2 customers as part of its network investment of over €300m.
This means that all customers, with 4G-enabled phones, can benefit from the next generation of speeds through accessing Three’s state of the art 4G network. 4G access is available to all customers for free, as a promotion, until 30th June 2016. From 1st July 2016 4G access will be available for purchase through an add-on for €4.99 per month.
“Three is known as the network of choice for data users and we are staying true to that by giving our customer base of 2 million 4G access for free”, said Elaine Carey, Chief Commercial Officer of Three. “We’re the only network offering All You Can Eat Data, and with 4G, customers can do even more on their smartphone with faster uploading and downloading speeds.”
From 1st July, customers* with 4G-enabled handsets will be able to avail of Three’s 4G network, when in a 4G coverage area, after a quick software update for their phone. For more details on 4G, visit three.ie/4G.
*4G access will be available for former O2 Bill Pay customers on 1st July and will be available for former O2 Prepay customers from the end of July.
