3, official sponsor of the 3 Irish Open, is delighted to bring you the first edition of T 2 Green, a weekly golf podcast show presented by Shane O’Donoghue. The first podcast goes live on the official tournament website at midday today, April 15th 2009.

The first six weeks will take in the final day of the 2009 Masters right up to the final day of the 3 Irish Open and everything in between – from August to Baltray, from A to B with 3!

In addition to keeping golf fans up-to-date with all the latest news from the 3 Irish Open, T 2 Green will feature interviews with star players, all the latest in golf betting while also shining a light on well-known celebrities, whose passion for the game of golf knows no bounds.

Commenting on the launch of the T 2 Green podcast, Rachel Channing, Communications Director at 3 said, “T 2 Green is Ireland’s first-ever golf podcast show and will bring Irish golf fans inside the ropes of the professional golf tours. 3 wants to provide listeners with the latest golf news and interviews with top players and pundits from around the world in advance of the 3 Irish Open, which is set to be a fantastic tournament.”

On the first podcast, we hear from Graeme McDowell, 3’s golfing ambassador for the 3 Irish Open, as he reflects on the US Masters where he finished tied 17th and the leading European. Westlife’s Shane Filan, a self confessed golf-nut, will share his passion for the sport and his thoughts on Augusta. There will  be betting tips for this week’s tournaments on the European and PGA Tours and we will hear from 3’s golf consultant John McHenry as he looks forward to four great days in May, as Ireland and Europe’s top pros bid for a share of the three million euro prize fund at the 3 Irish Open.

Shane O’Donoghue is a member of the BBC Golf Commentary team on television. He also commentates for European Tour Productions “World Feed” and will be on the television commentary team for this year’s 3 Irish Open. The World Feed from Baltray will be carried by RTE, the Golf Channel in the United States and will also be seen in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South America in addition to many other countries worldwide.
