3, Ireland’s largest high-speed network, has announced its sponsorship of the 3 Business Awards with Waterford Chamber for 2010. The awards are open to all businesses in Waterford and entries will be accepted until early September, with the awards ceremony taking place in November.
Waterford Chamberand 3 have enjoyed a close working relationship over the last six months, particularly in relation to the rollout of 3’s Mobile Broadband in County Waterford. The 3 Business Awards with Waterford Chamber were launched by the President of Waterford Chamber, Tom Murran and Ian Blake, 3’s National Business Sales Manager, at an event on Thursday May 27th.
Speaking about the Awards, Mayor John Halligan said, “I am delighted that Waterford Chamber will be running the 3 Business Awards in 2010. It is vital that businesses in the City and region are recognised in this particularly difficult year. To see Waterford Chamber secure such a high profile sponsor as 3 is testament to the value of these awards. It is very fitting that 3 sponsors these business awards as this will, I am sure, give them exceptional exposure to the business community in the City and region. May I wish 3, Waterford Chamber and all the eventual participants good luck with the Awards.”
Ian Blake, 3’s national Business Sales Manager, commented, “3 and the Waterford Chamber of Commerce have enjoyed a strong working relationship over the last few years and we are delighted to support both Waterford businesses and the Chamber with the sponsorship of the 3 Business Awards. 3’s involvement will contribute to delivering an innovative and meaningful award ceremony for all concerned. In the current economic climate, every business needs whatever advantage, lead and support it can get, and these awards will recognise the very best businesses in Waterford.”
Ian continued: “3 is a strong supporter of the business community and the 3 Business Awards with Waterford Chamber provide the ideal opportunity to do so. We are confident that these awards will be hugely successful. 3 will be doing all that we can to promote the awards in Waterford and its surrounding regions.”
Waterford Chamber President Tom Murran commented: “It was important that the annual Chamber business awards happened in 2010 and when we approached 3 as a potential sponsor the response was immediate. Within a relatively short period of time we have produced a very exciting programme to deliver recognition to local businesses. Both 3 and the Chamber will work in tandem to ensure the 2010 awards really do deliver.”
Michael Garland, CEO Waterford Chamber, explained the process for the 3 Business Awards with Waterford Chamber. “There will be three business categories, with three qualifiers in each category. Each of these three qualifiers will be asked to attend a Dragons’ Den style presentation, and the three winners in each of the three categories will be announced at the Chamber’s annual dinner in November. As you can tell there is a 3 theme throughout the awards process. We believe that the awards will be extremely popular this year as I am sure that the awards will be tremendously well supported and promoted.”
In addition to 3, which is the main sponsor, The Munster Express is the media sponsor, Irish Handmade Glass will be sponsoring the creation of some fantastic one-off glass prizes and Excel Promotions will also be sponsoring the Award certificates.
The three business categories awards are as follows:
- Best Entrepreneur/New Business Person
- Outstanding Small Business Award (up to 15 employees – small business)
- Fastest Growing Business Award (15+ employees – medium to large business)
