Three’s customers made 3.7 million calls at Electric Picnic and used the equivalent of 8 million image uploads to Instagram in data
Three data usage surges by 188% to 12 terabytes during the three-day festival in Stradbally
Wednesday 7th September: As proud sponsor of Electric Picnic, Three added four 3G and 4G masts at Stradbally Hall this year to ensure revellers would be able to share every moment of their festival experience. The additional masts were certainly put to good use with a staggering 3.7 million voice calls made during the three-day festival with Three customers chatting for a total of 16,126 hours; the equivalent of 22 months.
Customers were also busy sharing their experience on social media using over 12 terabytes of data at this year’s festival; that is the equivalent of over 8 million images uploaded to Instagram and represents an increase of 188% on 2015 and 700% on 2014.
Elaine Carey, Chief Commercial Officer at Three commented: “As Ireland’s only provider of All You Can Eat Data and free 4G, Three prides itself in bringing its customers the biggest live music experiences. We understand that they love to capture every moment of these experiences on their smartphones and share them online, so we added additional masts across the Electric Picnic event and camping areas this year to provide the best network experience and it’s great to see that our customers made the most of it!”
Three’s unique festival activation, 3Live, also connected picnickers to what matters most– great music and experiences, powered by Three. It offered a jam-packed schedule including a secret gig by Gavin James and DJ sets from Mother DJs, Marcus O’Laoire and Eoghan McDermott. It also provided onsite charging facilities at 3Charging as well as portable power-banks so festival goers were always connected.
